Aaron Douglas was a Harlem Renaissance visual artist who created illustrations for NAACP publications, the covers of several books, and murals around the country. His techniques were Art-Deco in style, consisted of silhouettes, and depicted scenes of Black life and from Black history. Douglas later joined the faculty at Fisk University and helped to develop the school’s art program.
